Realtor Travels with AI

We recently entered the world of AI prompts to create an intro video for our friend Steve, went to Artlist.com to play around…

In the middle of February, homes in Chicagoland have brown, dead landscaping. Tasked with a realtor needing to have a new video for the spring/summer and being able to highlight different suburbs, with no budget for a studio, we got to work!

My thought was to use a similar technique to a video I recently saw that I was thinking it would be cool for Steve to “travel” to different suburbs, since we needed to composite him in front of good-looking, nicely landscaped homes (no dead landscaping) I knew we were going to be in a virtual world from the get go. But I still wanted to make sure it was more tethered to reality.

So after some trial and error using myself as a sample, I quickly realized it was all about the prompts, as this was giving “Inception” vibes!

After this testing, I was able to understand that the “prompts” for the AI will need to be accompanied by some stills on either end of each transition that will help it “understand” what Steve looks like from a profile point of view. Using this methodology, the transitions of Steve “looking around” and walking would then be closer to how he really looks. So at the beginning and end of each take, he would either face the camera or end in a profile.

Original footage, no green screen, AI generation, created Steve turning
shot outdoors on blank wall. and walking. Also created additional
‍ neighborhood environment.

Using Davinci Resolve for editing, compositing, color correction, and many hours of tightening it up in order to not have the transition be the story, we were finished and very pleased with this initial use of AI tools. I am excited to continue to use these emerging technologies to further the creative, and even though we had a small budget I feel this really helped to add some fun and cool shots that pair well with Steve’s personality!
